Portrait of Nic

about nic

hi, i'm nic.

For a long time, I didn't really live in my body — I lived around it. Late nights, not much sleep, running on empty and calling it living. I didn't know it yet, but I was disconnected from myself in a pretty fundamental way.

The shift started when I studied a Diploma of Fitness and Health. It cracked something open — enough that I packed up and travelled through Asia for a while, looking for something I couldn't quite name. I lived with nuns in Thailand. I sat several 10-day silent Vipassana courses, in near-total silence, with nowhere to hide from my own mind. It was humbling, and it changed me.

In early 2019, I did my first yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India — the birthplace of modern yoga — and went deep into the philosophy behind the practice, not just the postures. Years later, I went back to study further, completing a Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching at Byron Yoga Centre, where I learned about injuries, contraindications and cautions, yin yoga, restorative yoga, yoga for seniors, chair yoga, and yoga for mental health. Since then I've taught one-on-one and at a local gym, alongside my private and group classes now.

Here's what I believe, after all of it: the poses were never really the point. Asana is just preparation — it moves the energy and tension in your body so that when you finally lie down in savasana, you can actually be still. And in that stillness, whatever needs to come up, comes up. I don't believe in pushing feelings back down. I think they're meant to be felt, and let out — not managed, not performed, just felt.

That's what I want to offer you. Not a perfect practice. A real one.
